Chablis-esque is the term one reaches for with a wine such as this magnificent 2017. And Premier Cru Chablis at that. Taut, composed and focused with years of superb drinking ahead.
The bouquet is strikingly similar to the 2016 though the colour is not quite as deep. The palate has the hallmark grapefruit and cashew with mouth-watering acidity and a lingering, savoury finish. The fine French oak is there on the palate but as supporting actor rather than star of the show. Decant this vintage if you’re going to drink it in the next two or three years and that will give you a glimpse of the wine’s future.
