Vermentino, a white grape variety hailing originally from northern Italy, has found a home from home in Padthaway. Meticulous attention in the vineyard, including hand-picking the grapes, has produced ripe, intensely flavoured bunches.
Drinking well already but easily able to be kept for another three or four years the Landaire 2016 Vermentino is a dry, medium-bodied, unoaked white. It is perfect with risotto, seafood or poached chicken and makes for a plate-refreshing aperitif.
An inviting lemon-scented aroma with vanilla pod and almond notes leads to a zesty, fresh, dry palate. Crunchy green apples, lightly floral, refreshingly crisp with a lightly textured finish giving the wine that all-important ‘another-glass-please’ factor.
